Samuel Leard moved to the Illinois territory between 1800 and 1810..
Samuel came with his father (also Samuel Leard) from Ireland and settled in Abbeyville, South Carolina before moving to Randolph County, Illinois.
Samuel had several children, two of whom were Samuel Leard Jr. (b. 1789) and Margaret "Peggy" Leard (b. 1790 d. 1871). Peggy married James McDonough, son of Stace McDonough and Katherine Hughes.
Samuel was present during the 1810 and 1825 census at Randolph County, Illinois.
