Name and Place

James Thompson moved to the Illinois territory in 1804 and settled on a farm at the Irish Settlement. He arrived with his brother, Archibald Thompson, and died 1846 at Preston, Randolph County, Illinois.

James was born 1763 at Abbeville, South Carolina.

James came to the Illinois Territory in 1814 and was a surveyor.

Offices Held

James Thompson served on the county board after 1825, and was one of the three board members who resolved to build a new two story, brick court house.
